Teddy bear and love letter!

I m here with my second card for Whimsiedoodles for this month. Their january release is all about valentine images and I m head over heels in love with them .

What better way is there to show love than with a simple gesture of  teddy bear doll and a love letter. That is the theme I chose for this card . Long ago I was surprised to read that teddy bear is named after President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt Jr. I was happy with the final output as the card looks like a letter and a teddy bear doll is on a wood table.

Here’s the lovable card .

Paper – Bazzill Peppermint cardstock, Neenah solar white cardstock , wood pattern cardstock

Stamps –

Whimsiedoodles Heart String Bear digital stamp    (http://www.whimsiedoodles.com/whats-new.html)

Lawn fawn sophie’s sentiments ( http://www.lawnfawn.com/collections/sentiments/products/sophies-sentiments)

Penny black letter background ( http://shop.pennyblackinc.com/p/letter-background)

Inks – Antique linen distress ink, Copics E37, E25, E40, E0021 , 0  (for fur), Y15 for bow tie, R29 and R24 for hearts, versamark inkpad

Misc: Die lawn fawn stitched journaling card ( http://www.lawnfawn.com/products/stitched-journaling-card ) – for heart border , Glossy accents , red satin ribbon , white embossing powder

The close up coloring of the bear – This took quite some time to do . Had to do the speckling effect of the fur using colorless blender by doing tiny dots.

The glossy accents really come through so good!

Hope you like the card!

Chimneys and Christmas!

Chimneys and christmas goes like a pair . If not , atleast Santa and chimneys do ! We often have this question “how does Santa get down the chimney?” My guess is none of us have a clue to this or to answer this to a kid! There’s something about chimneys as a backdrop for any christmas theme – be it hanging stocking, gathering around a fireplace or Santa bringing the gifts ! It makes quite a fancy background for a christmas card too!

Its been crazy few days with everyone rushing to do last minute shopping for gifts .This post is perfect for the days prior to Christmas.

For this post, I made a card using chimney as the theme. Instead of Santa, we have the stamping bella uptown girl Charlie sitting by the chimney with the gift and a martini in her hand.

Doesn’t she make a cute Christmas card?

I should have used liquid applique for the sherpa effect on the clothes and hat.

Let the holidays begin!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi ,

Life always turns to be beautiful if we just see it from a different perspective no matter how tough it gets going. This year has been one such on the personal front. I m so indebted to a few friends . Adversity always shows real friends. I’m so happy I came to know my real ones. Gratitude is such a great thing, isn’t it?

Yes, Today’s card is about Thanksgiving.

Fall is my favorite season of the year. Trying to reproduce the same colors with a card is quite a challenging task. Having more inkpads would be better to compare and contrast. Its been a while since I used Lawn fawn stamps  and finally got to use it. The inspiration for my card is the photo I took of a tree. Here it is :

I wanted variety of colors and not just green and yellow. Here is the card :

Supplies :

Paper: Woodgrain cardstock, Neenah solar white cardstock

Ink: Memento tuxedo black (for sentiment), Memento ladybug , Memento Rich cococa (for tree ), Memento tangelo, Memento bamboo leaves, Distress ink spiced marmalade, Distress ink Squeezed lemonade  , Copics for leaves and bark , Wink of stella clear pen

Stamps: Lawn fawn harvest season ( http://www.lawnfawn.com/products/harvest-season ) ;

Lawn fawn home sweet home ( http://www.lawnfawn.com/products/home-sweet-home )

1. For card base –  cut a 8.5 inch X 11 inch cardstock at 4.25 inch. Score at 5.5 inch. Make a top folding card.

2. For cardpanel  – use neenah white solar cardstock (3.75 X 5 inch).

3. Use Memento rich cocoa and stamp the tree stump . Color with copics. Use a circle die cut and draw a circle with pencil.

4. Stamp leaves using separate inkpads as mentioned above, and also using mixed inks. Use wink of stella ink pen to give the glitter effect (the effect of sun shine on leaves)

5. Stamp the sentiment with memento black ink.

6. Use inkblending with distress ink spiced marmalade.
