Out of the blue.

I m going to write a post out of the blue! Yes! Out of the blue !

My favourite colour is Blue ! May be i like the sky blue or the turquoise blue of the deep blue sea . I have no clue. But there’s something about the big ocean that mesmerizes me .

When i saw the lawn fawn Critters in the sea stamp , I knew instantly I needed to make an Ocean card! Here it is…

Stamps used: lawn fawn critters in the sea , hero arts magical background

Paper: Neenah solar white cardstock(for card base), hero arts blue layering paper (for card panel), neenah dessert storm cardstock for ocean floor

Inks used: Copics , versamagic aegean blue (for magical background) distress ink vintage photo (for edges of ocean floor)

Misc: wave embossing folder, pearls and bling

I loved how the bling gave the sea critters bubbling look ! dont you?

(Tiny) Ray of sun

To catch up with time, I decided to post the card i made recently!

Here in Midwest, Spring has set in quite late, and the sun keeps playing hide and seek in clouds! How a small ray of sunshine could light up a day ! I look forward to the warm rays every morning (even when there s a snow prediction tomorrow) . Isn’t that called a ray of hope? or should i say a ray of sun?

Combined with that, I have to mention that driving has been bit of a task lately . With a terrible winter , the roads have plenty of potholes and Its like playing dodgeball when i drive! Having heard a news of my husband’s cousin having a baby boy, I decided to make a baby card with the above two thoughts in my mind! A recent purchase of a stencil, I wanted to try a new technique – distress ink blending on it. (oohh Love the colors and how they are named).  My love of bright colors is quite evident from this…

Supplies used:

Stamps : lawn fawn plus one (carriage)
Inks : memento black, distress ink mustard seed, squeezed lemonade, spiced marmalade (from bottom to up),tumbled glass, broken china, copics (Y17, B24, B26)
Paper: neenah solar white, blue card base, black cardstock
Ribbon: recollections , Foam dots (for carriage )
Misc: tim holtz rays stencil, silhouette die cut (road)

Does this brighten your day ?

The history behind my cardmaking …

It all started when a friend of mine , Niharika sent me a beautiful handmade card. I have always loved snail mails, handwritten letters and cards. It shows how thoughtful the person has been and how they took the effort to jot down a letter, or write a note in a card. Deep down, I guess I loved that fact more than the mail i receive.

Its such a beautiful card which opened me up to the big world of papercrafting.

Ever since, all I can say is , I m hooked !

Here on, I ll be posting the cards I made , with the basics of how I learnt to do them on my own! (of course, thanks to you tube and other bloggers out there)
